What is it?

Online debit and credit card processing – Secure ePayments is a product which allows you to accept debit and credit cards if you are selling goods and/or services online via the internet, by phone, or mail/fax order. Secure ePayments is HSBC’s payment solution, which makes it easier for genuine customers to buy from you and at the same time, help you protect your business from fraudulent card usage.

This is a secure online service for card payment authorisation and settlement, with up-to-the-minute security features from both Verified by Visa and MasterCard® SecureCode™ for internet transactions and the additional security of Address Verification Service (AVS) and Card Verification Service (CVS) for Mail and Telephone Orders.


How it works in summary:

(The following is an example of the process for our 'Part integrated (CPI) solution')

  1. Your customer accesses your website, places an order for goods / services by adding them into their shopping basket and proceeds to checkout.
  2. Their order is then encrypted. They are then passed to the Secure ePayments server on the HSBC website to complete their card payment.
  3. Your customer then provides their card details, which are security checked and verified with their card issuer. Additional card security is provided by both Verified by Visa and MasterCard® SecureCode™ for all registered cards.
  4. Once the order and payment is completed, your cardholder will be transferred back to your website, so you can issue a receipt and advise them of delivery details.
  5. You will now be able to access the administration system that sits behind this facility to check and fulfil your orders.
