Eligibility requirements

Existing customers:

If you'd like to open an HSBC Advance Account, you must be aged 18 or over and under 69. As HSBC Advance has a 12 month fixed term and the travel insurance benefit is only available to customers under the age of 70, you are not able to apply for HSBC Advance if you are aged 69 or over. Existing Bank Account and Current Account customers can apply via Internet Banking. Other HSBC customers can apply by phone or in branch. Please note, we may ask you to pop into your local branch to confirm your identity or address.

New to HSBC:

If you'd like to open an HSBC Advance account, you must be able to answer 'yes' to the following questions:

Are you aged 18 or over and under 69?
Are you happy for us to undertake a credit register search and credit scoring?
Can you provide us with identification and proof of your address and one month's bank statements from your current bank?

If you've applied online, we'll send you the paperwork to sign and return to us. Please note, we may ask you to pop into your local branch to confirm your identity or address.
