No HSBC charges for ATM withdrawals abroadHelp text You can use cash machines abroad whenever you need extra local currency. The exchange rate that applies to any foreign currency debit card payments is the wholesale market rate used by VISA applying on the day the conversion is made plus 2.75% of that wholesale market rate. Overseas cash machine withdrawals will also usually incur an HSBC ATM transaction fee, currently 2% (minimum £1.75, maximum £5.00) HSBC Advance and HSBC Premier customers will not be charged this fee.

Worldwide travel insuranceHelp text Be protected on your travels with insurance provided by Aviva Insurance UK Limited. You're covered if you are under 70 years of age and have been resident in the UK, the Channel Islands or Isle of Man for at least six months at the time of opening your HSBC account or booking the trip, whichever is later. To be resident, your main home must be in the UK, Channel Islands or the Isle of Man and you must be registered with a local doctor and liable to pay local taxes. Please note, trips must begin and end in the UK, Channel Islands or the Isle of Man in order to be covered. All cover ends if you cease to be a resident in the UK, Channel Islands or Isle of Man.
