Account eligibility
If you can pay £500 or more into your HSBC bank account each month, you're entitled to apply for Current Account Advance.
Should you fail to make the £500 monthly payment required to maintain your account, we will either change it to a Current Account or give you notice that we will be closing your account. If you are under the age of 23, the qualification criteria will not apply.
Switching accounts is simple
If you're worried about the fuss and bother, don't be. HSBC has a guaranteed hassle–free account switching service.
- We automatically transfer your Direct Debits and standing orders to your new account for you.
- We guarantee that you will receive your HSBC Bank Debit Card and chequebook (if requested) within five working days and your PIN within seven – either to your home address or an HSBC branch of your choice – or we'll give you £10.
- We can offer you an interest and charge free overdraft taking into account your existing Direct Debits and Standing Orders subject to our usual credit assessment criteria . If you do not want an overdraft or one is not available, we will, within a reasonable time, refund any charges or interest you have had to pay to us due to a delay or mistake made during the switching process.
- Your old bank shall, within a reasonable time, refund any charges or interest that you had to pay to the old bank due to a delay or mistake made during the switching process.
