Activate my card help

How do I activate my card online?select to show details

From the 'My accounts' screen select the 'Activate New Card' quick link to the right of the relevant account, and follow the instructions on screen.

You will need to enter the 16 digit card number from the middle of the new card, followed by the expiry date printed on the new card.

Don't forget to sign the back of your card.

Why do I need to activate my new card?select to show details

When your new debit or credit card arrives, you'll need to sign the back and activate it before you can use it.

How do I activate my new Visa Contactless Debit Card?select to show details

You can activate the new Visa Contactless Debit Card in the same way as you activate any other card.

From the 'My accounts' screen select the 'Activate New Card' quick link to the right of the relevant account, and follow the instructions on screen.

How do I know if my card has been activated successfully?select to show details

If your activation is successful, you will receive an on-screen message to confirm this.

If any details have been entered incorrectly you will be asked to re-enter them.

When can I use my new card once it's activated?select to show details

Once you have activated it, you can use your new card immediately.

Does activating my card activate the joint account holder's card as well?select to show details

For debit cards, if you are a joint account holder and have more than one card on the account, you'll need to activate each card individually.

For credit cards, if you are the primary cardholder and you have additional cardholders on your account then all cards will be activated at the same time as your own.
