We're currently making improvements to our Online Banking service.

If you registered for Online Banking prior to the 17th December 2014 it's not possible for you to activate your existing Secure Key and you will need to re-start your registration.

If you registered for Online Banking after this date, please log on to Online Banking entering your username, memorable answer and your password, from here you will be prompted to activate your Secure Key.

We apologise for any inconvenience which this delay may cause. Once you are registered, we look forward to introducing you to Online Banking, including the exciting enhancements we're working on now.

The benefits

Interest-free overdraft
Interest free overdraft entitlements are:

  • £1,500 in the first year after graduation
  • £1,000 in the second year after graduation

Graduate Loan
You’ll be able to apply for a Graduate Loan up to five years after the date of your graduation.You can apply to borrow up to £25,000, subject to status and account conduct.

We offer attractive rates. The interest rate is representative 3.3% APR for loans between £5,000 and £25,000. Loans over £15,000 can be repaid over up to 8 years. More on Graduate Loans .

Regular Saver

The essentials

HSBC Debit Card
Use your card and PIN which comes with your Graduate Bank Account in shops, restaurants and online, and withdraw your money from any ATM in the UK2 – up to £300 a day. Get up to £100 cashback at many outlets nationwide when you pay with your HSBC Debit Card.

You can also use your card to withdraw local currency at cash machines worldwide and pay for goods and services worldwide wherever you see the VISA logo.3

Monthly statements
Once you’ve set up your account you’ll automatically be sent monthly statements. Once you register for Online Banking, you’ll then have the option to switch off your paper statements and receive them electronically instead.

Online Banking

It’s also now easier to log on to your Online Banking from an iPhone® or Android phone with our service.

Telephone banking

Get a balance enquiry, make credit card payments, obtain transaction details and transfer cash between accounts at any time, day or night using our automated service. And if you have a query, our Customer Service Representatives are available on 03457 404 404 from 8am to 8pm every day. Calls may be monitored and/or recorded.


The additional services

Order commission-free foreign currency on amounts between £100 and £2,500.

For your convenience we stock Euros and Dollars in over 1200 of our branches, plus cash in up to 67 currencies available for next day delivery.

Current Account - Switch GuaranteeCurrent Account Switch Guarantee

We have designed the Current Account Switch Service to let you switch your current account from one bank or building society to another in a simple, reliable and hassle-free way. It will only take seven working days. As your new current-account provider we offer the following guarantee.

  • The service is free to use and you can choose and agree your switch date with us.
  • We will take care of moving all your payments going out (for example, your Direct Debits and standing orders) and those coming in (for example, your salary).
  • If you have money in your old account, we will transfer it to your new account on your switch date.
  • For 36 months, we will arrange for payments accidentally made to your old account to be automatically redirected to your new account. We will also contact the sender and give them your new account details.
  • If there are any issues in making the switch, we will contact you before your switch date.
  • Crystal Mark 20785If anything goes wrong with the switch, as soon as we are told, we will refund any interest (paid or lost) and charges made on either your old or new current accounts as a result of this failure.

1 Overdraft: Subject to status and account conduct. Additional overdraft agreed above your interest free entitlement will be charged at 19.9% EAR variable.

2 Debit Card: Some cash machine owners in the UK may charge you for withdrawals. This will be shown on screen with an option to cancel the withdrawal if you want.

3 Using your Debit Card abroad: The exchange rate that applies to any foreign currency debit card payments (including cash withdrawals) is the wholesale market rate used by VISA applying on the day the conversion is made plus our Non-Sterling Transaction fee, which is currently 2.75% of the applicable VISA wholesale rate. We will make the conversion and deduct the payment from your account once we receive details of the payment from VISA, at the latest the next working day. Details of the current wholesale market rates can be obtained by calling us on the usual telephone numbers, set out in the table before Section 1 of the General Terms.

Transaction fees: For non-Sterling (foreign currency) transactions we will charge a fee of 2.75% of the amount of the transaction, using your Debit Card to pay for goods and services abroad (eg in shops or restaurants). This fee will be shown as a separate line on your statement as a 'Non-Sterling Transaction Fee'.

Cash machines: Some cash machine owners in the UK may charge you for withdrawals. This will be shown on screen with an option to cancel the withdrawal if you want.
