If you choose this option, HSBC will instruct a firm from the HSBC Managed Panel to represent it. The legal work on behalf of HSBC will cost you £295 including VAT , which you will have to pay in addition to your own solicitor or licensed conveyancer fees for representing you.

You will need to personally agree terms with the firm you've chosen to represent you. They may offer fixed or variable legal fees and other features.

Once you're ready to apply

If you choose to appoint your own solicitor or licensed conveyancer, simply advise the Mortgage and Protection Manager or Mortgage Advisor completing your mortgage application.

You will need to provide us with the name, address and telephone number of your chosen solicitor or licensed conveyancer.

HSBC's appointed firm will be unable to liaise with you directly but they will liaise with your chosen solicitor or conveyancer, including to arrange for them to pay our legal fees and the Land Registration fees before completion.
