Life can be pretty hectic sometimes. That's why we've developed another way to help you to keep an eye on your finances.

HSBC Fast Balance is an app for checking your HSBC current account balances and latest transactions on your iPhone, BlackBerry® or Android™ smart phone. With HSBC Fast Balance, it's quick and easy. And you don't have to log on to Personal Internet Banking or use your Secure Key. HSBC Fast Balance can be used with all current accounts where you have been issued with a debit card.

Accessing your account is easy. Once you've downloaded HSBC Fast Balance and registered your details, all you need do to see your balances is click the HSBC Fast Balance icon, enter one single passcode, and choose the current account to see your balance.

How to register:

To download HSBC Fast Balance to your mobile phone, visit the App Store, Google play market place or BlackBerry App World.

1. Enter mobile number
2. Accept terms and conditions
3. Enter the activation code we send to your phone
4. Create a passcode
5. Enter the debit card number of the account you want to link to the app*
*Be sure to enter your address exactly as shown on your current account statements.

That's all there is to it. Then you'll be able to check your balance and latest transactions whenever and wherever you want.

What is Fast Balance?

Fast Balance is a service, available to download to your Smartphone and once registered, you'll be able to:

  • view your registered account balance and available balance, as it would appear on the ATM's;
  • view the 6 most recent transactions since your last statement;
  • top-up up to 5 mobile Pay-As-You-Go phones

Fast Balance is only available for UK mobile phone numbers.

What Smartphone devices are supported?

Our Fast Balance App has been designed to run on the most widely used operating systems by our customers as listed below:

  • For iPhone - any device running Operating System version 3.0 and higher.
  • For BlackBerry - any device running Operating System version 5.0 and higher.
  • For Android - any device running Operating System version 2.2 and higher.

Unfortunately it will not work with Windows 7 or any other operating system not listed above. Whilst we have no immediate plans to change this we will continue to monitor changes in smart phone usage to ensure our App remains relevant. We regret any inconvenience this may cause.

What accounts can I access with Fast Balance?

Any Personal HSBC current account for which you have been issued with a debit card.

Do you charge for using this service?

HSBC will not charge you for using this service. However you may be charged by your network provider. We suggest you ask your network provider if there will be any charges.

What information is needed to sign up for Fast Balance?

In order to register you will need:

  • a UK mobile phone number;
  • debit card for which the balance and statements are required;
  • your address – as it appears on the statement;

It is easy to set-up, just follow the simple instructions on the phone through the registration and set-up process.

Is this Application secure?

We take precautions to ensure that your data via this application is secure which is why during the registration process for Fast Balance, you will be asked to set-up a passcode, which should not be shared with anyone else. We would also encourage all our customers to take precautions when using their mobile devices in a public area. The Get Safe Online website provides guidance on how to protect hand held computers and mobile phones.

Can I use this when I am abroad?

HSBC will not charge for using this service, however you may be charged by your network provider as this App requires connection to the Internet.

Please refer to your provider to check your payment plan.

I have lost my phone, what should I do?

Call the mobile phone network provider immediately so they can disable the phone. If you get a new phone with the same number, you will just need to re-register for Fast Balance.

If you don’t have a smartphone but your phone does have connection to the internet you can still get your current account balances, current account mini-statements and top-up your mobile phone using Mobile Money from MONITISE™.

Free means free of charges from HSBC. O2, T-Mobile and Tesco Mobile customers can download and use the service completely free. Orange, Vodafone and Virgin mobile customers may incur a small data charge. If you use this service abroad, standard roaming data charges will apply depending on your network.

Mobile Money works on most non-smartphones that are internet enabled, so to check if yours is compatible, please read our compatibility requirements.

Getting Started

To add the Mobile Money app to your mobile, simply follow these 4 steps:

  1. Text HSBC to 82428, we'll send you a text message back within 60 seconds.
  2. Select the link in the text message and follow the onscreen instructions to install the app.
  3. Create a passcode that you will use when accessing the mobile banking app.
  4. You'll find the app in your games or applications menu.

View your balances in a mobile-friendly view


If you have a smartphone, you can log on to Internet Banking and check your account balances when you're out and about.

  • Protected by Secure Key
  • In 'desktop view' you can use other Internet Banking services (eg. making payments) by scrolling around the full size pages. You can switch between 'mobile view' and 'desktop view' easily without having to keep logging on and off
  • Check your balances quickly when you're on the go, without having to scroll around full size pages

    You are accessing the same Internet Banking service, so whether you log on using ‘mobile view’ or ‘desktop view’ you’ll be asked for your user ID, security details and Secure Key code to help ensure that only you can access your account

Balances and Alerts with Text Banking

Keep track of your finances wherever you are with our Text Banking service.

Why should I register?

  • If your phone doesn't have access to the Internet, or even if it does and you prefer using text, Text Banking is a great way to keep track of your money
  • The alerts that you request are automatically sent straight to your mobile, wherever you are
  • Sign up now to start receiving text alerts

Information in the palm of your hand

You can request to receive weekly or monthly mini-statements on the day of your choice, showing your balance and up to five most recent transactions on up to 3 Current Accounts and/or Credit Cards*.

You can also request specific Current Account alerts to notify you of events which can be very useful to help you manage your account, such as when your are nearing your overdraft limit:

  • Your balance has fallen beneath a specific, useful for managing overdrafts
  • Your balance has reached a specific amount
  • A lump sum has been deposited in your account (minimum £25)
  • A lump sum has been withdrawn from your account (minimum £25)
