Whether you’re emigrating, retiring, studying or working outside the UK, we’re here to help.

You might also need an international account to help with your banking outside the UK.

If you’re applying for an international account you need to have a Premier or Jade current account1 with HSBC UK already (eligibility criteria applies). Any international account is subject to the terms and conditions which apply to the account locally in that country or region.

Who can apply online?

To apply online, you need to:

  • have an HSBC UK Jade or Premier account1 
  • be 18 years old or over
  • reside in and apply from the UK

What you'll need

During the application

Before you start, check you have your:

  • identity details, including your full name, date of birth and nationality as they appear on your ID documents
  • employment, income and tax details

If you're applying for a joint account, you'll need to provide details for both applicants.

After you apply

We'll ask you to book a phone appointment with an International Banking Case Manager. They'll discuss your application in more detail to help you open your account outside of the UK. For all applicants, you'll need the following information:

  • valid proof of identity, such as your passport, driving license or national ID
  • proof of your current address, such as a bank statement or utility bill

Your International Banking Case Manager may ask for additional documents.
