Calculator assumptions

Please note: this is an indication of savings. The actual amount will depend on the make and model of the car, driving conditions, driving style and efficiency.

Electricity costs will vary by supplier and tariffs – please check your most recent energy bill and add your kWh cost if known, this is set at the current energy price cap.

We've used an average fuel price of £1.61 by default. Fuel prices can vary, so please amend for a more accurate cost comparison.

Efficiency

We've used these figures as a guide for small, medium and large EV cars although they can vary based on multiple factors:

  • 4.5 miles per kWh for a small vehicle
  • 4.0 miles per kWh for a medium car
  • 3.5 miles per kWh for a large car

For petrol and diesel cars we've used the following:

  • Small 48mpg
  • Medium 44mpg
  • Large 39.8mpg

Please select the vehicle which is closest to the efficiency you achieve.

A kWh is a measure of how much energy you're using and mpg is a measurement of the rate of fuel consumption.

These are to give an indication of costs and will vary depending on the model of the car.
