Who can apply?
You can get a decision in principle if you meet all these conditions:
- UK resident
- Aged 18+
- Receive your income in pounds sterling
- Mortgage is for your main residence
You can't use this option if you're getting a buy-to-let mortgage, in the armed forces or using a gov scheme like Help to Buy.
Don't meet all the criteria? You can still get a quick decision or apply for a non-UK resident mortgage or buy-to-let mortgage.
Get a decision in principle
This takes around 5 minutes to complete.
We’ll complete a soft credit check, which doesn’t affect your credit rating. It won't commit you to an HSBC mortgage and won't be seen in searches by other companies.
We just need some basic details of your income, employment, outgoings and how much you want to borrow.
Already have your decision in principle?
Once you've got your decision in principle and found a property, you'll be ready to apply for a mortgage.
You can choose to apply online, without help from a mortgage adviser.
Or you can book a phone, Zoom or branch appointment with a mortgage adviser if you'd like mortgage advice.
Think carefully before securing other debts against your home. Your home may be repossessed if you do not keep up repayments on your mortgage.
