Opening up golf

The Open and Golf Foundation

HSBC's commitment to golf embraces all levels of the game, from amateurs to the elite. We want to open up the world of golf for everyone to enjoy.

The Open

We’ve been a sponsor of the world’s oldest major golf championship since 2011. In July 2022, the historic links of The Old Course at St Andrews will host the 150th Open.

We’ll be there too, offering a range of activities in the Spectator Village. Our customers can take advantage of the HSBC Customer Refuel, where you can take a break from the live action and recharge with some refreshments.

Alongside our major golf sponsorships, HSBC Golf Roots aims to open up a world of opportunity by supporting youth, community and grassroots initiatives. In the UK, we're working with The Golf Foundation's national development programme. This promotes the sport in schools, helps youngsters into clubs and uses golf to promote important life skills. The HSBC Golf Zone located in the Championship Village gives spectators the chance to take part in a 3-shot challenge on simulators. Guests can hit approach shots into the 6th, 17th and 18th holes at Royal St. George’s with the chance to win an array of daily prizes. There will also be the opportunity to play against HSBC ambassadors - and sporting legends - Tim Henman and Brian O’Driscoll.

The HSBC Golf Zone is open to all spectators and is free to enter.
