Opening up golf

The Open and Golf Foundation

HSBC's global commitment to golf embraces all levels of the game, from grassroots up to the elite. We want to open up the world of golf and make it anyone’s game.

We’re proud to support the Golf Foundation with HSBC Golf Roots – a national development programme which promotes the sport in schools, helps youngsters into clubs and uses golf to promote important life skills. And as a long term, committed golf sponsor, we’re very proud to be a Patron of the oldest and most prestigious golf tournament in the world, The Open.

We're proud to partner with The Golf Foundation on HSBC Golf Roots. This grassroots junior development initiative promotes the sport in schools, the community and golf clubs across the country, using golf to teach children important life skills such as confidence, resilience and emotional wellbeing.

Over the past decade, HSBC Golf Roots has:

  • introduced more than 5 million youngsters to golf
  • given 500,000 pupils a taster session from a PGA Professional in their own school
  • enabled 250,000 children to visit a golf club
  • given 1 million school children the opportunity to take part in HSBC Golf Roots competitions through the School Games
  • given over 10,000 secondary-age sports leaders the training to run Tri-Golf and GolfSixes formats

If you want to get involved, enter your postcode on the Golf Foundation website to find your local junior-friendly golf facility.
