What's changing?
Logging on to online banking
You'll now have new ways to log on to online banking. You can log on using one of the below options followed by your date of birth:
- Sort code and account number
- Credit card number
- InvestDirect account number
- PIMS account number
- Username
- Online Banking User ID (HSBC Private Bank only)
Logging onto online banking with your app
If you use a Digital Secure Key, you'll now be able to log on to online banking by scanning a QR code from your mobile. This means you won't need to generate a code from the mobile banking app.
If you have any accessibility or mobility needs, we can support you. For more information, get in touch with us.
iOS Face ID for mobile banking
If you use an iPhone and have Face ID enabled, you'll now be automatically logged onto the app through Face ID.
Online and mobile banking displays
We're simplifying how we display your information.
- 'Manage devices' and 'Manage security journeys' will now sit in our Security Hub
- 'Generate OTP' will now be part of your account dashboard view
Resetting your Mobile Banking Pin
We're making it simpler to reset your pin going forward. You'll now upload a picture of your photo ID plus a selfie to reset your Mobile Banking Pin on your phone.
Setting up the app on a new mobile device
When setting up our app on a new device, you'll now just upload a picture of your photo ID plus a selfie and an SMS activation code.
Physical secure keys (PSK)
If you need to order, activate or reset your PSK pin, you'll need to call our contact centre and our agents will be able to help you.
Alternatively, you could look to upgrade to a Mobile Banking PIN by downloading the HSBC UK Mobile Banking app.
